In this time of stress and uncertainty, it can be hard to feel a sense of security and balance. Even people who have not had issues with mental health in the past need help navigating times like this. At First Reformed Church of South River, we are blessed to partner wih Church Based Mental Health Services, a ministry of Churches Improving Communities, which offers low or no cost mental health care in our area of New Jersey.
CBMHS' helpline is open, as usual, for anyone looking to be connected with a counselor. It is also available for you to call if you are having a hard day and need someone confidential to talk to. Leave a message and someone will call you back! (Please note: if you are having a mental health emergency, please call 9-1-1.) To connect with this service, call 732-867-8647 if you are in Middlesex or Somerset county, or 732-784-3394 if you are in Monmouth or Ocean county.
The state of New Jersey has also opened up a helpline, staffed from 8am-8pm, 7 days a week. This number is 1-866-202-HELP. For additional information on state offerings in this time, please visit their website.
Church Based Mental Health Services is also releasing a weekly newsletter with mental health tips during this time. We will be reposting each newsletter here! Click the links below to download:
