Upcoming Communion Services
            Sunday, July 30th

Summer Worship Time
Our worship service will be held at 9:00 am beginning on Sunday, July 2nd and continuing through Labor Day. Worship will return to our regular time on Sunday, September 10th.

Daniel Kish
We are saddened to report the passing of Daniel Kish on June 17th, 2017.  Dan was a faithful servant of this congregation, serving many years as both a deacon and an elder.  More than that, Dan was a friend to everyone in the congregation sharing his stories and his zest for life.  Dan will be greatly missed.  Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

Second Chance Pantry News
Congratulations to Sarah Brister on earning her Girl Scout Gold award with her "Second Chance Pantry" project.  Sarah's project brought attention to the amount of food that is wasted due to confusion over product labeling.  The Second Chance Pantry has been open for a full year now and has served many in our community who greatly appreciate having an additional resource for food assistance.

Over the last several months Sarah has been training new volunteers who will be able to take over responsibility for the second chance pantry when Sarah leaves for St. John's University in the Fall.  We are grateful to Sarah for the many hours she spent creating and maintaining the second chance pantry and wish her the very best as she begins a new chapter in life's journey.

Keeping our Grounds Beautiful
With the summer heat upon us, our Blue Jean Sundays will be temporarily discontinued in favor of more informal work days.   If the weather turns cool and you have some extra time on your hands, feel free to stop by the church and spend a little time weeding, watering the flowers, or cleaning the parking lot. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Our next Blue Jean Sunday will be scheduled for September 24th.

Mission Partnership Sundays
We are very excited to announce the beginning of our Partnership Mission Sundays combining our new "Manna Cafe" and the "Second Chance Pantry" which has been in operation since last summer.   The Manna Cafe will be sponsored in partnership by Darul Arqam school and our congregation.   We will take responsibility for the SECOND Sunday of each month and the Darul Arqam school will cover the Cafe on all of the FOURTH Sundays.

We believe that this new Cafe will become a valuable resource for those in our community who struggle with the ability to feed their families or just need an opportunity to fellowship with others.  There are many ways that you can be a part of this worthwhile "Partnership Mission" project.

You can volunteer to:
•       Pray regularly for this Partnership Mission
•       Help spread the word about this mission to those in our community who are in need of food or fellowship.
•       Help set up, serve, and clean up for Manna Cafe.
•       Help cook the dinner for Manna Cafe.
•       Plan the menu, shop, and run the Cafe kitchen one week.
•       Sponsor the Manna Cafe dinner one week with a special donation to cover the cost of the meal.
(Call Beth at 732-257-7014 if you have questions about this opportunity.)
•       Make a general donation to help cover expenses of food and supplies for Manna Cafe.

And please don't forget to continue supporting the "Second Chance Pantry" which is a Girl Scout Gold Award Project created and run by Sarah Brister.  While Sarah is focusing on rescuing past date non-perishable foods, all current dated non-perishable food is also is greatly appreciated.

If you are able to help us with the "Partnership Mission", complete the enclosed "I CAN HELP!" Response Card and return it to the church in the envelope provided.  Checks should be made out to "First Reformed Church" and include "Mission Partnership Cafe" in the memo.

Congregational Care
Rev. Maddy Patterson has agreed to provide congregational care for those in our congregations who are in need of pastoral services. Speak with Rev. Patterson or contact one of the elders if you are in need of pastoral services or if you know a situation that we should be aware of.

Worship Music
Worship music is like a prayer that can be spoken in many different languages together by many different people. The more kinds..... the more beautiful it becomes. We are looking to expand the way we do music so that more and more people can pray and rejoice along with us. Please speak to Parish Musician Michelle, if you have a musical talent and would be willing to help us expand our Sunday worship experience.

Worship Cancellation Plan
In the event of a major snowstorm or other emergencies, it is possible that in the best interest of the safety and well being of our worshippers, we may cancel our Sunday morning worship services. Any cancellation decisions will be made by 8 am on Sunday morning. While this should be a rare situation, we want to make sure that our members are informed about any cancellations.
